  • Passion play: medieval plays base on Biblical subjects, perfromed usually by guilds or fraternities during the week before easter (Passion week)
  • problem play: In the 19th century, plays that dealt with serious social issues such as prostitution, pollution, and poverty. Ibsen is the most famous author of such dramas.
