Buy in disgrace 1132

Among its other significances in Finnegans Wake, 1132 is the year in which Saint Malachy was appointed the Primate of Ireland (Archbishop of Armagh). However, the office had at the time been a hereditary one, passed down through generations of the Ui Sinaich family without regard to consecration or ordination. Members of the family thus seized the official instrument of the primate, the Bachal Isu (Staff of Jesus), preventing St. Malachy from entering into office. He was eventually forced to buy it from the Ui Sinaich.
People usually say "Year of Grace" as a version of AD "year of our Lord". So "Buy in disgrace" pokes fun at this.
