  • tetrahedrally: ie "having four sides" so there are four questioners, questioning Yawn from four sides.
  • Tetramorph: Matthew human, Mark lion, Luke oxen, John eagle -- here an ass(?). The Evangelists and symbols are the same, but different authors/traditions, map them differently. Joyce follows the same schema used by St. Jerome, the Book of Kells, Aquinas, inter alia. Augustine has Matthew and Mark as Lion and Man, respectively.
