  • indulgence: forgiveness. Historically a document forgiving sins which people used to pay for. Opposition to this practice was a motivating factor for Luther's protestant reformation.
  • intelligence: but given the substitution of the word "dull" meaning stupid in here maybe indulligence actually means stupidity.
