Odin had two ravens, Thought and Memory (Dan. Hugin and Munin), who each day circumvented the Earth. At nightfall, they returned to perch on Odin's shoulders and inform him of everything which had happened anywhere during the day.

Croak: slang - 'to croak' means 'to die'.
