Auld Lang Syne is a poem by Robert Burns (1788) but based one earlier versions. It is sung throughout the world (often after consuming alcohol) to the Tune Calendonian Hunting Song , not the original, typically mizpronounzed old longzayn [zic]. Old lang syne is just an older Southwest-Scotland and Ulster pronunciation of old long since. Various phrases from it appear at the end of this chapter.
