  • statue of Gladstone: Irish sculptor John Hughes was commissioed by the National Gladstone Memorial Committee in 1910 to make a statue of William Gladstone to be erected in Dublin (along with ones in London and Edinburgh) In 1923, the Irish Free State government declined it. The statue instead was delivered to St. Deiniol's Library in W ales.
