  • Saint Columbkille or Saint Columba: an Irish missionary monk who propagated Christianity among the Picts during the Early Medieval Period. St. Columba is the Latin version of his name (columba = "dove"), while the Irish name is Colum cille = "dove of the church"
  • monastery of St. Columba: The Abbey of Kells was founded in Conty Meath in 544 by Saint Columba. The Book of Kells was preserved there until the 1650s, thn sent to Dublin. The surrounding text of the passage describes part of the Tunc page of the book.
