  • Eddas: referring to two works in Old Norse, the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda, both of which were written down in Iceland during the 13th century. These books are the main sources of medieval skaldic tradition in Iceland and Norse mythology.
  • Ave: (Latin) hail, the first word of the Catholic prayet "Ave Maria"
  • all the Eddas ended with Aves: the Vikings were converted to Catholicism
  • all the "God damns" were ended with "Aves": language became less profane, went from curses to prayers
