• Saint John the Baptist: (died ca. AD 28) an itinerant preacher and a major religious figure. He is described in the Gospel of Luke as a relative of Jesus who led a movement of baptism at the Jordan River.
• Jean-Baptist Lamarck: (1744 – 1829), a French naturalist.,a n early proponent of evolution. He usually remembered for his belief in the inheritance of acquired characteristics, and the use and disuse model by which organisms developed their characteristics.
