  • Edward Walsh: an Irish poet, born at Dunhallow in North Cork in 1805; died at Cork, 6 August 1850. Walsh was a pioneer in pushing Gaelic culture and language and in translating Gaelic poetry and songs into English, and the reviva! of "ancient Ireland."
