Mamertime

• Mamertine Prison (Italian: Carcere Mamertino): a prison (carcer) locatedon the northeastern slope of the Capitoline Hill in ancient Rome, where accused criminals awaiting trial were held.
• Mamertines: mercenaries of Italian origin who had been hired from their home in Campania by Syracuse. After disputes with Syracuse, they were instrumental in starting the First Punic War.
• Mamer: Oscan name for the god Mars
• Mam → a child of Maam.
