  • terracotta: a kind of pottery; the name is Italian for "baked earth"

In context, to terracook is a infinitive verb. A Bone, a pebble (a people?) a ramskin are left to terracook, suggesting these items are buried in the earth (the muttheringpot, the silent (mute) Earth Mother) to harden, petrify.

  • Also hints at Chinese terracotta warriors (not sure on when they were known to exist).
