- sidereal: determined by or from the stars
- sidereal time: a time-keeping system astronomers use to keep track of the direction to point their telescopes to view a given star in the night sky.
- Sidereal-based Astrology: Jyotish, Vedic (Hindu) Astrology, uses the astronomical Zodiac, i.e., the actual fixed-stars Zodiacal constellations observable in the heavthens outside, as opposed to the Western system which uses the Tropical Zodiac, starting on the first day of spring. Due to the precession of the equinoxes, they are out of kilter by about 24 degrees -- different schools have different measures for this delta, which in Vedic astrology is known as the ayanamsa.
