archers strung = stringed argent

Probably a reference to the official heraldic description of the coat of arms of the Republic of Ireland -- namely, the Brian Boru harp, which is "stringed argent" (i.e., has argent/silver-colored strings) "on a field azure." The word argent is used in the line above this one.
