Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Kuraish (Quraysh or Koreish), Mecca's chief family after the 5th century, were Mohammad's tribe. Originally Mohammad's enemies, they later became his followers.
The ansars (helpers) -- referred to later in this paragraph -- protected Mohammed's early Medina followers from the Kuraish.
