- now be easy: this next section seems to be an incantation to keep the dead from wandering around the Earth. In the song, Tim Finnegan comes back to life at his wake (the previous line) but now is being told, "Be easy Tim. You are dead. Don't bother the world with your ghost." Also, perhaps a plea to stop all the awful, destructive repetitions of history dominated by men like Tim.
