In Greek mythology the river Styx formed the boundary between the underworld and the world of the living.

The goddess Styx, a primordial goddess who represented the river, a daughter of Erebus and Nyx.

The Naiad nymph whose name meant literally Hateful, possibly because she was the personification of the river.
