- Aristobulus II: Jewish High Priest and King of Judea . 66 BC to 63 BC, He came to the throne in a rebellion and civil war aginst Hyrcanus II, his predecessor. The Romans intervened, took power, and eventually (it is claimed) had Aristobulus II poisoned by order of Pompey the Great.
