  • Mecklenburgh Street: a street on Dublin's northside, the centre of the city's redlight district in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries; formerly known as Great Martin's Lane, it was renamed Mecklenburgh Street in 1765; in 1887 the name was changed to Tyrone Street (a vain attempt to rid the street of its unsavoury reputation); in 19?? the name was changed again, to Railway Street; Bella Cohen's brothel, in which much of CirceUlysses, Chapter 16 *nfash; is set, was No. 82 Tyrone Street
