Following "vesta," which suggests an eternal flame, this and the following phrases seem to refer to a woman tending a fire with a bellows (which creates "puffs" of air):

"piff the business on. Paff. To puff the blaziness on."

The subsequent references to cooked eggs suggest a cooking stove.
