- rose of Sharon: a name that applies to several different flowering plants (none of them roses). The name based on a reference in the Song of Solomon. The name now refers to either a flowering shrub of the St. John's wort family with yellow flowers or a kind of hibiscus with pink flowers. The Biblical flower may be a crocus, a tulip, or a lily.
- "I am the rose of Sharon, The lily of the valleys:” Song of Solomon, 2.1
- Jesus as the rose of Sharon: the identification comes from a typological reading of the Song of Solomon as being not about the bride of Solomon but about the Church and Christ as bridegroom/bride.
- Jesus Rose of Sharon: a gospel song written by American composer Charles Gabriel (1921)
- Jesse: In the Bible, the father of King David and (in New Testament genealogies, an ancestor of Jesus.
- jesen: (Slavonic) autumn (motif here, note previous entry + the following “ripe” implying harvest)
