kuk : kaiserlich und königlich (Imperial and Royal) -- the Dual Monarchy that was the Austro-Hungarian, Habsburg Dynasty. Austria was married to Hungary; but after WWI that union dissolved, and after the Anschluss of March 1938, Austria was "in-bed" with Germany.
