- Drogheda Street: Original name of O'Connell Street, when it was laid out in the 17th century.
- Ruins: The General Post Office, which was the headquarters of the 1916 Easter Rising and was destroyed by the British Army, stood in ruins at the central point of O'Connell Street until the 1929, when the Irish Free State government ordered it rebuilt.
