Curragh is a plain in the Irish county of Kildare. The name "Curragh" comes from the Irish (Gaeilge) word Cuirreach, meaning "racecourse," and the plain is used for training horses and is famous for its annual horse races[1]. This connotation links to "raze" (race), "koursse of training" and "horsey."
