- Danaë: In Greek mythology,an oracle predicted that King Acrisius of Argos would be killed by his grandson. He locked his daughter, princess Danaë, in a brazen tower to protect her chastity. Zeus entered the tower in the form of a golden shower and impregnated Danaë. She bore a son, the hero Perseus, who indeed later caused Acrisius's death.
