- barmbrack: yeasted Irish bread with raisins and seedless grapes
- stick in the barmbrack: Per an Irish Halloween tradition, a barmbrack has various objects baked into it, including a pea, a stick, a piece of cloth, a small coin (originally a silver sixpence) and a ring. The person whose slice the of the loaf contained the stick would have an unhappy marriage or continually be in disputes
- Balbriggan: Town fifteen miles north of Dublin, on the river Bracken
