- Hurrish: title of an 1886 novel by Irish writer Emily Lawless. The title character, Hurrish (Horatio) O'Brien, is a landowner in County Clare who accidentally murders a resentful peasant and is in turn murdered by his brother.
- Hurrish the Sweep: According to a plaque inside the Green Street Courthouse in Dublin, "Hurrish the Sweep" was the name of the felon who, in 1815, was the last man sentenced to be publicly whipped in the streets of Dublin.
