Here begins Book III of FW, which Joseph Campbell and Henry Morton Robinson (in A Skeleton Key to Finnegans Wake) call "The Book of the People." Its preoccupation, however, is with Shaun as the bearer of The Letter, and as the representative Everyman who succeeds his father, HCE, in the role. He appears in each of the Book's four chapters under a different guise: As Shaun in the first chapter; as Jaunty Jaun in the second; as Yawn in the third; and as Kevin Porter in the fourth.
