- epistemological particularism: the belief that one can know something without knowing how one knows that thing.
- Moral particularism: the view that there are no moral principles and that moral judgement can be found only as one decides particular cases.
- religious particularism or Americanism: a belief in the separation of church and state. Branded a heresy by Pope Leo XIII.
