- John O'Reilly: (1879 – 1916): one of yej fallen leaders of the Easter Rising in 1916, where he was second in command of the group of Volunteers of the Irish Citizens Army that took over the City Hall in Dame Street, Dublin;
- Patrick Pearse (also known as Pádraic Pearse): (1888 – 1916) an Irish teacher, barrister, poet, writer, nationalist and political activist who was one of the leaders of the Easter Rising in 1916.
- Isabella Persse: the maiden name of Lady Gregory, Irish playwright and patron of literatur
