• The blind demiurge of Gnostic theology, Samael: This lower god (Gnostics believe he is the God of the Old Testament) was blind and lived in the watery abyss, thus he thought he lived alone. His mother, Sophia (wisdom) tells him, “You are wrong, Samael … there is an immortal light man that exists before you.” One could right a thesis on this passage. Seers of the Blind God. There is also a feminist overtone here in that Sophia as light "superseeds" Samael/Ialdabaoth (blind/child of chaos).
