• A traditional story has Robert the Bruce, in hiding from the English after yet another defeat, watch a spider trying to spin a web. It is unable to bridge a gap with a thread. It keeps trying. The thread breaks; it continues to try, without stopping, until it succeeds. Inspired, Bruce emerges from hiding, gathers new followers and takes up the fight again.
