This parenthetical seems to be about Proust's "In Search of Lost Time" (ISOLT) first translated into English in 1922, the same year as "Ulysses." Proust died in November of that same year.

Grace Eckley has written in "The Steadfast Finnegans Wake" that the books in FW (at least those Atherton discusses) were from "Steadtime," i.e., before the death of William T. Stead aboard the Titanic in 1912. ISOLT would be one (the only?) exception. Proust self-published the first volume in Paris in 1913.
