  • Ur was an ancient city in southern Mesopotamia, located near the original mouth of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers on the Persian Gulf and close to Eridu. Abraham was said to have been born in Ur. (Cf. [Ur at Wikipedia])
  • Götaland is a historical land of Sweden. Geographically it is located in the south of Sweden, bounded to the north by Svealand, with the deep woods of Tiveden Tylöskog and Kolmården marking the border. Other names include Gothia, Gothland, Gotland, Gautland and Geatland.

Götaland once consisted of petty kingdoms, with its inhabitants called Gautar in Old Norse. It is generally agreed that these were the same as the Geatas, the people of the hero Beowulf in England's national epic by the same name. The region is also the traditional origin of the Goths.
