  • An epithet for Esau: Hebrew עֵשָׂו, Standard Hebrew Esav, Tiberian Hebrew Ēśāw, from (‘sw, hairy). Esau is the first son of Isaac and Rebekah in the biblical Book of Genesis, and his lifelong rivalry with his twin brother Jacob is archetypal of war between brothers.
