The use of the word Koran or Quran also denotes a sense or reciting something. The word is used in the Quran itself for this purpose: "It is for Us to collect it and to recite it (qurʾānahu)." In this sense, the textual meaning of the phrase "Allah O'Khorwan" conjures an image of God reciting the blessed word, or perhaps to suit Joyce's purpose, to "recite" the eternal cycle of arrival and fall in the flesh of HCE.
