Jump to navigationJump to search- This begins a series of references to Giordano Bruno, who was burned by the Inquisition, and Dublin booksellers Browne and Nolan. Bruno was referred to as Bruno of Nola, i.e. the Nolan.
- Father Brown: A fictional character in a series of novels by G.K Chesterton (1874 – 1936). He is a short, stumpy Catholic priest, who acts as a detective.
- Sam Browne belt: a wide belt, usually leather, which is supported by a strap going diagonally over the right shoulder. It is most often seen as part of a military or police uniform. It is named after General Sir Samuel James Browne (1824 – 1901),a British Indian Army cavalry officer.
- san (Italian) saint. Bruno is often seen as a martyr for science.
- Saint Bruno: Confessor, ecclesiastical writer, and founder of the Carthusian Order. He was born at Cologne about the year 1030 and died in 1101.
